Want a Puppy? Our Adoption Process

If you are interested in adopting a Willow Springs Havanese, the first step is to contact us and request an application.  All applications are reviewed thoroughly and we reserve the right to refuse any application.  Our goal is to find the best possible home for each and every puppy!  After your application has been approved, you are welcome to set up a time to come meet us and our dogs.  For their safety, interaction with puppies is restricted until after 4 weeks of age.  All visitors will be asked to wear clean clothing that they have not interacted with any other animals in and to remove their shoes before entering our house.  If you are not local, our puppy cam is a great resource to watch and get to know the puppies as they grow.

Next, if you would like to reserve a puppy, we’ll have you fill out a contract and put down a $500 deposit, which will reserve your spot in the selection order.  Deposits are non-refundable, but can be applied to our next litter (please see contract).  We believe very strongly that puppy placement should be done based on personality, not color preference.  Frequent visits are encouraged to get to know all of the puppies.  At around 7-8 weeks of age, selections are made in the order in which deposits were received and are a combination the families’ preference and which puppy I think will make the best match.  Puppies go to their forever homes at around 10-12 weeks of age.  When picking up your puppy, plan on spending about 1-2 hours with me.  We’ll go over potty and crate training, grooming, their feeding schedule, future inoculation schedules and I’ll answer any questions you might have.  You’ll receive a packet with your puppies’ AKC application, health records, dam and sire’s health testing and pedigrees, and a copy of the contract.  Puppies go home with a blanket and toy that they’ve been sleeping and playing with to make the transition easier.

After taking your puppy home, I’m always available to answer questions and love to see pictures and receive updates!  We also have a Facebook page for our puppy families to share pictures and brags.
